And we’re back!

If you’re reading this, it means the new site is up and the URL is redirected and we’re back in business. Yay!

I’d like to thank Jessica L. Williams of Tech Biz Gurl for doing the move for me. It was NOT easy. I moved from Typepad to Squarespace, and Typepad is so old-timey that Squarespace didn’t even have an import tool for it, so Jessica had to take me from Typepad to WordPress to Squarespace. And then she had to do weird stuff to fix the links and anchors and stuff. I’d have been drinking heavily, but Jessica just took it all in stride, and kept me calm and laughing, all in the same week she was in her sister’s wedding!

Confession: I don’t wear glasses every day. I wear contacts when I’m running or doing barre or just when I feel like it. And I have two pairs of glasses that I rotate when I am wearing glasses. So the glasses banner didn’t really fit anymore.

A few months ago I fell in love with and bought the painting “Abstract 4 13” from artist Tina Duryea because it felt so energetic and luxurious and strong and rich to me. Controlled chaos. Deep wildness. And that’s what I want my life to be, and what my work with you to be. Deep wildness.

So I asked Tina if it was ok to use a detail from the painting for my new banner, and she said yes! If you want to see more of Tina’s work check out her site, her Etsy store (where I got “Abstract 4 13”), Like her Facebook page, and follow her on Twitter. She posts a lot on FB about her artistic process, which is fascinating to me as a non-artist.

So now we’re here. Thanks for hanging in with me during the switch!

  1. Miss M used to ask me if I would ask you to send her your glasses when you were done with them. 🙂 She loved those. The earlier set particularly. I like the new banner a lot, despite the history. I loved this abstract, for the same reasons you do. I sooooooooo wanted to get it, but I am glad you have it. It’s perfect. Nice job everyone!

  2. Congrats on the switchover! That much IT work makes me break into a cold sweat, I dread it so much. Cheers to it being over. Onward and upward!

  3. Love the new ‘About Me’ BTW. Bring It On is one of the best movies ever. Totally under rated. And Groundhog Day is an old favorite (How can you not love Bill Murray? Though I think my favorite movie of his Lost in Translation). 🙂

  4. Looks lovely, Magda. Congratulations on making it through the maze of technology.

I’d like to add another recommendation for Tina’s work. I bought one of her abstracts a few months ago and I just love it.

  5. This looks absolutely fantastic. I love the painting in the banner (though the text with the site name looks really pixellated for me?). Congrats on the successful move!

  6. The banner is lovely! Quick question – will the archives be back somewhere, organized by topic? Now that I’m embarking on this motherhood adventure after so many years of reading you, I was counting on being able to look back and read your wisdom (and that of you commenters!) at every stage of this journey. I already miss Typepad’s nifty tag links on the side column.

I’m not good with change, so I may be just reacting to missing the familiar environment. 🙂

  7. This is obvious that when you are in hurry or in tension so the problem get worsen and there looks no way out but it is the consistency that helps the people to do the best for them so that the problems can be solved.
